Nothing to see here

Today has been a triumph in the field of Advanced Procrastination. I’ve successfully dodged any meaningful work and feel quite happy about that. I’m still feeling a bit worse for wear which has taken the shine off my non-accomplishment, but that can’t be helped.

On a more worrying note I’ve noticed that I have had pins and needles in my left hand all bloody day. That’s not a good thing, surely? I’m sure that’s a warning sign before a heart attack!? What a disturbing thought. Alternatively it could be how I slept/passed out on my sofa last night, using my left arm as a pillow. The latter is more likely.

I’ve just found possibly the best hosting deal for a geek ever. It is run by Lycos Europe and it is a Virtual Server of your very own.

Basically a virtual server is indestinguishable from a completely seperate machine, but the providers cut down the actual amount of hardware… they would probably run a dozen or more virtual servers on one machine.

This means that you get the flexability of a dedicated server for the price of standard hosting. You just can’t go wrong. My only decision now is to figure out which version of linux to put on there. It’s a toss-up between Debian 3.1 and Fedora Core 3.

I had a fairly horrible experience last night. While on the way out my mum rang me. That in itself wasn’t horrible. The conversation, however, was a different matter:

Mum: Have you seen your sister? Splee: Nope. Why? M: She went down the road to get some bread from the shop about 45 minutes ago and she’s not back yet! S: Really? Have you checked [here], [there] and [everywhere]? M: Yes! Damn that girl!

After a fairly worrying 30 minutes with a distinct lack of sister, she saunters home.

A fairly tearful but relieved mother rang to inform me that sister had decided to introduce herself to the new tenants of the shop which we live above. The stupid girl had her phone on silent. What’s the point in having a mobile phone if you never answer it, I ask you?
