English genius

Apparently I’m an english genius:

English Genius
You scored 93% Beginner, 80% Intermediate, 87% Advanced, and 77% Expert! You did so extremely well, even I can’t find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don’t. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you’re not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!

I took the test that Owen asked his commenters to take.

Try it for yourself.

B-ball

Having had Sky+ for a few weeks now I’m starting to figure out what’s on which channel and when. As a result I’ve been watching quite a few NBA games.

I used to play basketball for my school team1 and I’m going to start supporting a team. Now, my question is this: How the hell do I choose a team when I have no real connection to the U.S.?

My first inkling is to go for the LA Lakers, for the sole reason that I can name one of their players, Kobe Bryant. Maybe the Cleveland Cavaliers because I watched them last night. Really… my choices are as tenuous as that.

For any of you ‘mericans out there, if you can come up with a better reason for supporting a team, lets hear it. I may stick up a poll later if I get enonugh suggestions. :)

1. We weren’t very good at all. In fact, we sucked in a big way. But it was a lot of fun and my fitness level shot up as a result of running up and down the court 4 or 5 times a week.

The Dentist

Some of you may remember my ordeal a while back. Well, since then my front teeth have been really sensitive and painful1.

I’m trying very hard to figure out if I want to go the the dentist or not. I hate going to the dentist.

Most people hate the dentist because they’ve had fillings or they’ve had other reasonably painful work done. Not me. Other than a small amount of work on a chipped tooth2 I haven’t needed any real work done on my teeth. My hatred of the dentist’s chair is entirely irrational.

As a result of this hatred though, I haven’t been to the dentist for well over four years. I’m beginning to worry that if I do go I’ll have all sorts that the dentist will have to sort out. Plus, as I’ve not been for so long, I’ll have to pay for the lot. The NHS won’t cover it with such a long lapse in checkups.

I think I’m doomed.

1. The sensitiveness (I’m sure that’s not a word) of these teeth is rediculous. If I have a cold drink, pain. If I have a hot meal, pain. If I’m walking down the street, there’s cold wind and my mouth is open, pain. 2. The repair of my chipped tooth was actually relatively painless. I had it done by a dentist who used a laser to… well, file the tooth, but I suppose the correct term would be laser. The building of the extra didn’t hurt either.
