Recently my sister had an accident in my car leaving me “sans transportation”, and her and her friends with a collection of stitches, broken ribs, bumps, and bruises. Thankfully the car - a Rover 200 - did it’s job in the safety arena and they got out scott free if you take into consideration the damage absorbed by the car’s body.
As a net result, I’ve been shopping for a new car. I wanted a small hatchback with decent fuel consumption, good looks and a low price tag… hah, doesn’t everyone want those things out of a car?
As it was my birthday on Saturday I was out shopping to get some birfday clothes (my family has a rule that we don’t go and buy clothes and wrap them up… what’s the point, half the time you won’t like them and the other half you have to take em back because they don’t fit…) and we drifted past the Audi dealership. I popped in as I love the high-spec Audis - they just look so meaty.
Blow me down if there isn’t the perfect car for me sat on the lot. A black A3, ex-demonstrator, 2.0 TDI, right in my price range. Insurance isn’t too racy either, probably due to the Diesel engine.
With a bit of luck I’ll be putting down the deposit tomorrow morning and I should have the car by the weekend. If you want to contact me this weekend, don’t bother. I’ll be out on the road.

I’m not sure I’d describe an A3 as a “small hatchback”, but I certainly approve of your choice.

Nice charcoal grey color. Sport editon has a decent engine. I can’t wait. Being american, im sure it takes more gas than you guys are willing to use, but hey… what can I say. Being a red blooded american, i drink gasoline for sustenance.

Black is bad. You’re going to be spending the rest of your natural life cleaning that thing. On the other hand your sister did you a favour trashing your Rover. I bet it was that orrible coppery colour as well wasn’t it? God, what’s next? A cardigan?
Also please give me admin rights to tempests boards so that I can start altering people’s posts. In particular Hammer’s. I have a score to settle with him.
Finally, why pink? I always knew there was something a little “happy” about you.
Love and Kisses

Nah, it was dark red so it wasn’t too bad. But yeah, I know that black is a hard colour to keep clean, but it just looks so classy.
No, you don’t get admin on the boards, not because I care but because it’s you.
Finally, you love the pink really because we all know you’re a closet case.

I’ve just discovered that I am a mechanical klutz which is interesting for an engineer. Whilst trying to put in a new focussing screen I scratched the viewfinder on my Canon 20D. I blame you. Please forward the monies for my repairs immediately.

I decided to buy myself a present instead. Grats me on a new Canon 5D! I’ll be back later after I finish selling myself on the street corner to pay for it…

New Renault Clio is out this weekend - the sport diesel boasts 106 bhp and does 61.4mpg (combined) or 70+mpg at 56mph. Apparently.
As the Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi sport that I’ve currently got is going out of production early next year, I shan’t be buying another of those, and I’m looking forward to test driving my potential new broom on Friday (shan’t be buying it for a while though because I want them to iron out all the new car niggles first) :)

Pleased to hear your sister got out OK too - sounds nasty.
