Mobile viruses

I struggle to comprehend the reason for computer viruses. I can just about pin the “corporate espionage” tag onto viruses that propogate and then attack a certain website, but the ones that just create hassle, backdoors and generally screw your system are just eHooliganism in my opinion. There is absolutely no need for it.

Now they have viruses that attack mobile phones. That is completely and utterly malicious and serves no purpose other than to propagate itself. What is the point?

Fortunately the MMS part of this new Mabir virus is not active, but it just demonstrates that such a thing can, and now probably will, be released at some point.

If you have the virus there are removal instructions available. In fact, those details are good to read even if you don’t have the virus as it may help you in identifying it before it gets installed on your phone.

splee.blog is moving… again.

I’ve just got myself some real hosting specifically for this blog, but I will also be consolidating all my other hosting packages into this one eventually.

Once the host is up and running I probably won’t be posting until the transfer is complete. If I’m feeling sparky I may even do a new theme just for the move. I’m going to be adding a cool new comment/shoutbox type toy anyway, so I may as well make the whole thing new, eh?

See ya all on t’other side.

EU Software Patents bill rejected.

This is good news. It will allow Open Source software to keep on flourishing as it has been without large companies patenting software left, right and center just to further their own interests.

IKEA kills.

IKEA caused chaos just by opening it’s doors for the first time. Can I just say, for the benefit of those caught in this unfortunate event:

IT’S JUST FUCKING FLAT PACKED FURNITURE PEOPLE!

I actually feel a lot better now. I’m still not quite myself though, so I might go release some tension and riot at my local MFI. Or maybe Homebase as it’s a bit more “up market”.
